Well writing after a long time… to be precise after 2 long years… but since Pandey ji ne kamala kiya…toh hum yeh llikh rahe hain…
I never really liked the Salman Khan type of cinema, his dialogs and his histrionics were something’s I felt could be avoided…probably I had completely written him off in comparisons to my favorite actor Mr. Shah Rukh Khan but DABANG made me crazzzyyy… if it’s the appropriate word to use…
Dabang comes out with no flaws… be it its packaging, marketing and the product itself… is a delight…out to serenade both the masses and the classes… Salman Khan makes you ask for “ONCE MORE PLEASE”
Right from the pre launch promotions, the buzz marketing, to its trailers, to the most unusual style of music by Sajid-Wajid.. Yes usual Malaika Khan number, Dabanng made waves…
Set up in raunchy settings of Northern Indian town which is lacking appropriate law and order, the movie offers you no interesting story to relate to… the characters too would have been forgettable had it not been a stellar and binding performance by CHULBUL Pandey who considers himself as the Robin hood whose prime objective is not lawful justice but an appropriate one…Not going much into the details of the story…actually there is nothing to dwell into, there are regular room filling performances by Vinod Khanna, Dimple Kapadia, with Om Puri’s talent being wasted… but who is complaining???
I feel Arbaaz has done justice as Makkhi… gullible villager who is not really liked by his brother… few scenes where the two brothers are together are a delight specially the one in the beginning where Salmans morning begins with hitting Arbaaz on the back side…
The film wouldn’t have been the same without Sonu Sood who for once looks good!!! The “Bhaiya jee..issmile pls and the follow up scenes are actually funny… and not mere additions.. They pull the story further.. Sonu Sood definitely seems indispensable support to the character of chulbul pandey…
There is no slapstick comedy for once in a Salmaan flick and the credit completely goes to the director Abhinav Kashyap… it’s not an easy task to present a slap stick mindless subject in a simple yet classy way. He has a similar cinematic aesthetics as his brother yet has his own sense of story telling… but again need more to form an opinion … btw Salmaan Khans formal look is one to die for…
The film however is a one man show!!! It’s Salman Khan all the way!!! His screen presence, the charisma, persona, attitude, class, his comic timing… every thing makes a girls heart go da-bang!!! Jaws totally dropped…gasping for breath… Its him who carries the film-- be it action, romance, drama…. He is amazingly refined…. Polished diamond just brought out on display!!! On second thoughts it seems a brilliant attempt to save Salman’s controversial and fading career… whatever it is he surely has pulled out a fast one from his magic hat!!!
Last but not the least Sonakshi Sinha… chiseled body, crisp dialog delivery… but nothing really that I could form an opinion about her…. Though a friend of mine has a contrary opinion stamping the lady with a great bollywood future!!! Thus me wishing her luck too!!!
In the end would close on the note: “Chulbul Pandey.. Naam personality ko suit karta hai…” totally loved the film and love Chulbul… waiting to go for the movie again… do join the party!!!
Cheers!!!
